Getting Started
Gwinn is a referral-only practice. That means every new client begins through an introduction from someone already in the community. This keeps the work personal, trusted, and aligned.
Yes, a referral is the usual way in. If you’ve arrived here without one and feel strongly aligned with Gwinn’s approach, reach out. Consider this your quiet invitation.
Once you’ve been referred, you’ll receive an email introduction with instructions for creating your Mindbody account. From there, you’ll be able to book and manage your sessions.
The Session Experience
Clothes stay on. Wear something comfortable that allows you to move easily — yoga pants, shorts, or sweats work well.
No. Gwinn’s approach is hands-on and movement-based. Sessions happen fully clothed, without oils or lotions.
Sessions begin with conversation: what hurts, what movements trigger pain, what your history is. Then Gwinn uses a mix of Western muscle meridians and Eastern kinetic chain techniques to trace the patterns behind your pain. The goal is to restore balance by addressing the true source, not just the symptom.
You may feel sensation – sometimes strong, sometimes subtle – as stuck areas release. Most describe it as “hurts good” or “finally, that’s the spot.” Pain is never the goal; release and relief are.
Some temporary soreness may occur in the first 24 hours as your body adjusts. Gentle stretching and drinking plenty of water can help your system rebalance more quickly. You may also notice new feelings of awareness in other areas as weight-bearing activities like standing or walking highlight your body’s shifts.
For maximum benefit, most clients book 90-minute sessions. However, we are happy to accommodate your scheduling needs. Packages are also available for those seeking ongoing care.
Results & Approach
Every body is different. Some clients experience noticeable relief after just one session, while others benefit most from a series that gradually unwinds years of compensation patterns.
Chronic or recurring issues often require longer periods of care, while newer problem areas may respond more quickly since compensating patterns haven’t fully developed. Gwinn will help guide your journey and recommend the approach that best supports lasting results.
It draws from all three, but it isn’t any of them. Think of Gwinn’s work as a bridge between Eastern and Western healing: blending myofascial release, functional movement, and meridian-based therapies.
Athletes, caregivers, office workers, first responders, artists, seniors, parents – anyone whose body has been asked to carry more than its share, whether through repetition, overwork, or aging.
Those looking for a spa massage or a quick fix. Gwinn’s work is about lasting change, not surface-level relief.
Gwinn works with chronic pain, repetitive strain, postural issues, scar tissue restrictions, mobility challenges, and stress-related tension—the patterns that keep you “stuck.”
Sometimes pain is more than physical. Emotional stress, defense mechanisms, and frustration can settle into the body as holding patterns, creating tension in areas like the stomach, neck, or heart. In these moments, Eastern methods such as mindful breathing help release what words cannot. It’s not uncommon for clients to experience laughter, sadness, or even tears during this process—each one a natural way the body releases energy and moves toward balance.
That’s often when Gwinn’s work is most powerful. By looking at the bigger picture, we often uncover what others have missed.
Policies & Practicalities
Life happens. We ask for 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. Missed appointments without notice are charged in full. If you’re feeling unwell, please let us know as soon as possible. Illness is the one exception – we want to keep the studio a safe space for all.
No, Gwinn is a private-pay practice. Many clients use HSA or FSA accounts to cover sessions.
You can purchase single sessions or discounted packages of 5, 10, or 15 hours. Payment is made through Mindbody at the time of booking.
Yes, but only for someone you’re personally referring into the Gwinn community.
Currently, Gwinn’s work is hands-on and in-person only.
Community & Philosophy
Because healing grows best in trusted circles. Referrals ensure the community stays aligned and that every client arrives through genuine care, not advertising.
This approach empowers our existing clients, creating a community where each member is part of something special. Sharing an Opurea experience with friends, family, or colleagues is more than a referral – it’s a meaningful gift that leaves a lasting impression.
This isn’t about chasing symptoms. Gwinn traces the patterns of compensation, adaptation, and stress that create pain – and treats the root, not just the surface.
Western tools like myofascial release and functional movement meet Eastern practices like Shiatsu, Thai massage, and meridian work. Together, they unlock both the physical and energetic patterns of pain.
Your pain is never random – it’s the sum of your habits, history, and resilience. Each session is about listening to that story, unwinding what no longer serves you, and restoring balance.
